IT security officers are constantly faced with the dilemma that company information is often compromised unintentionally by employees.  According to NetworkWorld’s 2007 Technology Opinion Panel, only 1 in 100 employees follow corporate data and security policies.

A single data breach can cost a business millions of dollars.  By using a credit-card sized employee badge that has its own embedded computer chip (smartcard), Power LogOn offers more advanced security features and protection from hackers and malicious software programs than other software or portable memory device solutions.

How Power Logon works:

Power LogOn Administrator allows an IT manager to assign and issue variable rights, privileges and passwords onto the smartcard giving users unique authorization to networks, data files and web accounts. The user does not need to remember, type or even know their access information.

Power LogOn® Administrator is a smartcard-based solution that offers more advanced security features and protection than other software or portable memory device solutions. Power LogOn, in combination with ID card, physical access control, cashless payments, time & attendance tracking, etc., creates the one ID badge solution. HID® Prox, iCLASS®, Mifare®, Legic®, custom graphics, bar codes and magnetic stripe are just some of the expandable technologies that can be added, which can drive down maintenance and issuance costs by 25% or more.

With Power LogOn, the user has one PIN to remember to retrieve all of their access permissions. The individual smartcard and PIN provide a double, two-factor of authentication (something you have and something you know) (something the computer has and something the computer knows), two of the three primary authentication features. Biometrics can also be integrated with the cards to provide the final factor (the something you are). If the card is ever lost or stolen it will lock down the stored data after a limited number of incorrect authentications. IT can also revoke card access remotely, adding another layer of security.

Compared to other encrypted data access technologies such as SSOs, OTPs and PKI, Power LogOn is affordable. It requires no back-end modification, no annual fees and recyclable user licenses. It can be deployed within a few days - depending on the size and scope of the organization. Because Power LogOn is intuitive to use, very limited user training is required.
