Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): The three industry-approved means to authenticate and verify a user are:

  1. Something I Know: A PIN, password, or passphrase (Knowledge base)
  2. Something I Have: A card, token, or other physical devices (Possession base)
  3. Something I Am: Facial image, voice, fingerprint, iris image, or anything else that’s unique to an individual’s body (Inherent base)

The typical Power LogOn installation uses the existing employee access control ID badge + PIN. The PIN only authenticates the user to the credential and has nothing to do with any log-in or log-on account passwords.
